 Hello Nighthawks!

This is a short week thanks to all our veterans but we still have a lot to cover.

In 7th Grade Math  we are studying  the use of scales to convert measurements such as on models, maps and blueprints. We will learn how proportions to make large things, like Arizona, smaller to fit in your car's glove  compartment and small things large like a model of the human genome.

In 8th Grade Math we meet the Greek mathematician Pythagoras and use his famous theorem to find the measurements of right triangles.

In Language Arts we are reading stories with a twist such as "The Lottery" by  Shirley Jackson in which you really don't want to be the winner!  We will also be studying bias and the use of persuasive writing in advertising. Students will have to write an ad for an unusual product.

Also parents, progress reports go out on Tuesday.

Don't forget that Friday is Family Movie Night here at Model Creek. We are showing "The Lorax" and serving free pizza, popcorn and soda. So bring the children for dinner and a show.

Finally, I wish to congratulate the Staff here at Model Creek for another victory over the students in our annual volleyball game. Keep trying kids, you'll beat us someday!

All the best,
Mr. T
