All districts in Arizona and most across the country, have been working to outline every possible way to reopen schools safely. YESD governing board approved a plan for distance learning and in-person learning at the board meeting on July 9th.  Learning opportunities, along with safety concerns for staff and students, is our main priority.  The district has submitted its distance learning plan to ADE.  The distance learning plan has been approved by ADE and we will begin online instruction August 4th. With a team effort of staff, parents, students, and community, we can make distance learning a success!

Our staff and Governing Board have carefully considered many concerns and have instituted our YESD Plan for the best opportunity to get students back in school safely.  We understand that parents will have varying concerns about returning to school.  Please review our YESD plan on under the information and notices link.

The YESD School Governing Board decided at the August 13th meeting to start hybrid instruction on August 18th.  Hybrid instruction gives parents the option of their child(ren) attending class in-person or continue with distance learning.  As the COVID-19 metrics change in our community, the determination to have in-person instruction or distance learning may shift.  Communication, via your email and our website, will be provided as needed in the event of the metrics or situation changing as we move forward.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided free to enrolled distance learning students.  Parents can drive through the bus lane at 11:30 to pick up lunches beginning August 18th.

The Yarnell Elementary School District Governing Board has held several public study sessions to discuss options for high school attendance choice.  Mr. Tim Carter, Yavapai County School Superintendent; Kellie Burns, District Executive Officer; and Renee Raskin, Deputy Chief, Yavapai County Education Services; have been present for the sessions to work on options for YESD.  The school board is responsible for the fiscal management of funds and has reviewed tuition costs.

Previously, our eighth graders had a choice between Prescott High School and Wickenburg High School.  On November 8, 2018, The YESD Board met limiting that choice to one high school: Prescott High School.  For more information regarding this decision, please see the above link, High School Tuition and Transportation per Student.

By only having one home high school district (which is typical of most rural schools), YESD can help keep local tax-rates down.
